Installing Fonts on iPhone and iPad

Install fonts on iOS and iPadOS using a font installer app or configuration profile, then use them in supported apps.

Last updated January 15, 2026

Apple lets you install custom fonts on iPhone and iPad so they appear in apps that support custom typefaces, such as many office, design and note taking apps. Fonts are added through an app that creates a font profile.

Install with a font installer app

  1. Download the font file to your device, for example to the Files app.
  2. Open a font installer app from the App Store that supports importing your own fonts.
  3. Import the font file, then approve the install when iOS prompts you.
  4. Open Settings, then General, then Fonts to confirm the font is listed.

Where installed fonts appear

Installed fonts show up only in apps that offer a custom font picker. Look for a font menu inside the app. Not every app supports custom fonts, so the font may not appear everywhere.

Removing a font

Open Settings, then General, then Fonts, tap the font, and choose to remove it. This deletes the installed profile from your device.

License terms vary from one font to another. Always review the license included with a specific font before using it, especially for commercial work.
