What is a Smart Object text effect?+
The editable text lives inside a Smart Object. When you replace and save that content, Photoshop updates the linked layer styles, textures, shadows and lighting in the main PSD.
Can I use my own font in a PSD text effect?+
Usually yes. A different font may change the width, spacing and silhouette, so you may need to adjust font size, tracking or the Smart Object canvas for the effect to fit correctly.
Why does the PSD show a missing font warning?+
The original preview font may not be included. Install it from an authorised source or replace it inside the Smart Object with a font you are licensed to use.
Can I change the colours of a text effect?+
Many layered PSDs use editable adjustment layers, layer styles or fill layers. Change those controls first instead of painting over the final result so the effect stays non-destructive.
Can I resell an edited PSD text effect?+
Do not assume so. Many resource licences allow a finished design but prohibit redistribution or resale of the editable source. Check the specific licence before client delivery, template resale or marketplace uploads.
What fonts work best with Photoshop text effects?+
Use a font whose stroke weight and proportions suit the effect. Bold display fonts often hold bevel, chrome, neon and 3D treatments better, while thin scripts may need simpler effects to preserve letter detail.
Why does my replacement text look different from the preview?+
The sample font may have different width, weight or letter spacing. After replacing the Smart Object text, adjust size, tracking, line breaks and sometimes the layer-style scale to match the new typeface.
